I have a 67 Delmont and the speedometer is driven from the front wheel hub. This does not look like that part....Thsi looks like the one that attaches to the transmission

Rockauto.com only has the upper cable for vehicles with cruise control. This is not an easy cable to find. When you are searching make sure you look for one WITHOUT cruise control.

If you still have the original cable why not see if someone in Italy or close by can copy or repair it.

I took the cable from rockauto that I knew was wrong but I took the attack to retrieve the tachometer and the pin because I lacked in Italy theres the problem of fillets and the sheath that we have here is too small.
I realized that it was difficult to find with this car are now accustomed.
Thanks to all

what is wrong with the original one, is there any way to repair it? if just the inside cable is broken, you can buy a universal inner (square) cable and insert it into your outter cable.

I've seen, and may still have one of these cables that have rubbed on something like the steering componets. They wind up with a section of housing abraided with no insulation on it. Is this what happened to yours? I'm not sure I can lay my hands on it but can try to find it next weekend if that would help. John

tindrumstoo: I no longer have the spare speedometer cable. I was able to purchase an aftermarket cable from eBay before. You might want to look there.

Unless your 98 came with cruise control those cables are unobtainium!

This one is for 67 Olds Delta 88 with Cruise: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-STEWART-...3eb611&vxp=mtr

This one is supposed to fit 66-70 Olds Toro - slightly longer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/66-67-68-69-...e24790&vxp=mtr

Here's one that's 61" long for Olds 1958 - 68 non cruise: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-68-GM-C...b84303&vxp=mtr

57" http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-68-GM-C...1f4cc7&vxp=mtr

I found all these and more on eBay using the search words 1967 oldsmobile speedometer cables

Don't know if that helps.

Unfortunately none of those would work. The speedo cables for this generation 98 were specific to this model and driven off the LF wheel.

yep. when I first looked for them I went to summit and rockauto and found ones that said they would fit my car for less than 10$ I thought it was going to be an easy fix. That's before I noticed they were the transmission type, different from mine.

I've been looking for a source for the cable this guy needs for a long time. So far the only one i've seen is on Ebay for 150 bucks. If your cable just has the insulation rubbed off count yourself lucky - install a new inner cable and wrap the thing in duct tape to keep the moisture out, because you're going to pay a lot of money for a new cable if you ever find one. Unlike yours my cable was kinked when I removed my engine and now is useless as it breaks every inner cable I install. These were specific to big cars in 1965 also and no online parts store has them. NOS or from a dead car only...best of luck sir!

Speedometer Cable

I went through my stuff and found a used cable for my 1967 Delta 88. The total length is 72 inches.
I don't know if it would be any use to someone or not.

There is a new cable listed on eBay right now. If you need one, jump on it right now before it's gone!

Below is two pictures of my used cable.
