'74 Hurst Tach

Hi. I'm looking at buying a '74 Hurst Olds and the Hurst electronic tach does not work. Any ideas where I could have it repaired? Also one of the flexible filler pieces between the rear bumper and quarter panel is broken. Are they available, OEM or aftermarket?
Thanks

Hi,
Can't help you with the tach question, but the rear bumper fillers are the same on all 74 and 75 Cutlass (all models except station wagon) and 76 and 77 Cutlass 4 drs. You should be able to find a good used one from a parts car. There's a gentleman on this site currently parting a 75 Cutlass so maybe his car has good rear bumper fillers.

Good luck, and I'd love to hear more about the 74 H/O you're considering.

Thanks. It is a white W-30. Black seats and carpet, white door panels. Going to look at it Thursday, and make the call on buying it, or not.

The hurst 73-75 Super tac II's have very thin wiring that can get pinched easy and usually have an inline fuse under the dash or console. The wiring diagram can be found and is very simple to bench test with a battery. Good luck with this car! Let us know...

thanks for the suggestions. The car looked great everywhere except the interior. Needs headliner, plastic parts around shoulder belts and back glass, door/window weather stripping, but most importantly, (to me), the dash padding is very bad. I think I would be ok with everything but the dash, so I chose to walk away.

Thank you. Tac had three issues.

1) fuse was missing in the fuse holder. (what amp should it be? I just installed a 20 amp I had on hand. I can't help but think it needs one quite small----1.0, 1.5 maybe?)

2) broken ground wire at the tac's rear connector. (looked like broken ground touched the power lead, taking out the fuse?)

3) tac reference wire not even hooked up at the distributor.

Thanks again
Mack
