Thumbs up 1984 Hurst Old's I just finished ...

Here's my latest car:

I had alot a fun, ("and a hell-of-a wake-up call") with regard to the "T-Top" realities ... but I got through it !

If anyone knows where I might find a GM (Delco) EGR Valve for this 307 "9 Engine", I'd like to talk ta ya !

This is my 4th car "Maaco's" Painted, *expectation exceeded: "again" !

Some MAACO's do a very nice paint job for a reasonable price. Yours turned out well.

Nope ... "I know nothing about "Body Finish". (I'm Mechanical only). All I did is remove the hood Mldg's , door stuff, mirrors, etc ... (so they could work / finish same).

Each day I went in to see / Video their progress ... "I just can't praise them enough" !
I have a YouTube Video series detailing this ... These People literally "assault" your project, & after that: some Donuts and an occ. "at-a-boy:" did the rest.

They take their work seriously, (But like anywhere I suppose) ... they can / do "rattle-can" work as well. But: in my example, it was utter perfection.
I demand this ! *anyway, (after the above) we BOTH get what we want.

Money ? *about 3K or so.

too see the video's (6) "build: 1984 Hurst Old's Restoration".

Here in the Upper-Midwest, the "Hurst's" are popping up everywhere ! ... This surprises me as again, I thought these were a "Limited Build". Anyway, IF I were too "do it again", *I'd do WITHOUT the T-Tops ...

Now I think I'll find an 83' Hurst ... "There seem to be plenty" !

Nice. I've got my 83 lined up for paint but no where near $3k! Where you decals cleared over or are they on top? Again, very nice.

That's what I "thought" ... being fair (esp. on a nice day) there not bad !

But in another reality, their "fit" and design (my opinion here) "leave MUCH to be desired".
My car will never be wet (well not if I can help it) ... but the wind noise / door fit, and the "seals" (that are avail.) give you a "half-assed fit" at best.

Many have written / have books relegated to all the different 'adjustments' one could / and can make ... ME ? "I'd pass on doing it all over again". (I'd pass on T-Tops).

Smile 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile

Looking at a 1984 Hurst that needs a complete repaint. The owner said it came with an aluminum hood. Was that an option ,or did they all come that way? It's a very straight looking car with original paint everywhere except drivers door. The hood has no paint on it ,just aluminum. Any advice appreciated ! Larry

to my knowledge no hursts came with aluminum hoods. I was always under the impression the only cars thats had aluminum hoods were diesel cars.

It was an option T45 in 84... I purchased a 1984 Cutlass Calais from the original owner and that vehicle had an aluminum hood... If you have a build sheet or the option code label is still on the trunk lid, check for T45...

There was no rhyme or reason as to which Cutlasses came with aluminum hoods, seems to mainly have come on '84 models but I've seen a few on '83-'85 Cutlasses.
No H/O came with one to my knowledge due to the weight of the hood scoop.
I know of a couple guys that claim to have one on their H/O but I installed a scoop on my '84 Calais with an aluminum hood and the hood was a little wavy around the scoop area so I'd imagine GM would have nixed this.
