Thumbs up FYI ARP head bolt torque specification different

FYI

Factory shop manual says to torque head bolts to 85 ft. lbs.
ARP bolt co. says to torque them to 70 ft. lbs.
Phoned ARP and they said to follow Olds tightening sequence but torque to 70.

You should always follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the fasteners. The proper torque depends on the design and material of the fastener and on the lube you use (again, follow their instructions for lube).

Required torque specs actually go up on ARP bolts and studs if you use anything but their lube. EI: oil, moly, etc.
