From 1949-1976 "Holiday" is Olds-speak for a hardtop (no center post) body style, which yours is.

The bodystyle cannot be determined from the VIN before 1965. Before then it's on the body data plate underhood as Pat points out.

578M13790 decodes as:

57= 1957 model year
8= Super 88 (7= 88, 9= Ninety Eight)
M= Lansing MI assembly plant
13790= vehicle sequential serial number

A Super 88 Holiday Coupe should have DHC on the data plate as well as Style No 57-3637SD.

Enjoy!

deluxe vs not deluxe

According to an old Motors manual, in 1957 all models had the same engine ratings. The differences would have been trim, interior and color options. FYI, the J2 option was a late in the 1957 model year addition.

Well, they're right in identifying your car as a Super "88" Holiday Coupe as that's what you have.

Neat car. It is definately a Super 88. The stainless "Accent Trim" and interior pattern is correct of a Super 88. Trim below the tail lights, tail light lenses and rear bumper are all Super 88 items vs Golden Rocket 88 items.
Can you post your complete trim tag information? The lower body, hood, front fenders apper to by Charcoal Gray. The roof, upper body and trunk could be Grenada Gray or one of the white colors offered. The Accent color is probably Festival Red.
