Power steering hose bracket

Power steering hose bracket
Hi, I'm replacing power steering hoses and pump, I purchased the correct hoses from Year One. There is a power steering hose bracket that gets mounted on steering gear box. This bracket keeps the high pressure line away from the fan belts. I have no idea how to mount this, cause there isn't one there now. Anyone have a pic of it in the car? Thanks. (I am attaching picture of the bracket.)

No prob... The 72 does not have this (aacording to the assy manual), but it is possible the 71 does. Or maybe it is another part that the parts supplier says it is for your year car, but instead it is for different years, or maybe it was a Chevy part they thought would be nice to put on Olds, too.
Lets wait for some 71 owners to chime in. Does your car have A/C? That could matter...

I didn't show it in the assembly manual either. The car does have A/C. I was thinking that it was a suppliers "propaganda", but it looks like it makes sense to me. It's funny cause the power steering hose is pretty close to the fan belts. Maybe somebody can enlighten us. Thanks.

I've had some 1971's over the years and don't remember this bracket. Right now have two 1971's, a Cutlass wagon and a 4 door parts car. Both are AC equipped and neither have this bracket. We'll see if anybody else has a car with one on it. John

Like the others, I don't see it anywhere. Not even on the 6 cylinder. Here's a pdf of the CSM you need (page 9-132) and it doesn't have that animal either.

That is a Chevelle/Monte Carlo part - I have one on my 70 Chevelle SS. I guess it would functionally work on the Cutlass but is not original and not needed based on how the hoses run. You see this all the time with multi make parts vendors that either know nothing about Olds and figure all A Bodies used the same parts or they figure they can sell extra parts. I stick with Olds specific vendors who have technical knowledge like Fusick or Supercars Unlimited whenever possible.

Hey Thanks,
I knew the "REAL" Olds suppliers would know the answer. I should have known that cause Fusicks didn't offer the part. I appreciate your input and thanks to everyone for letting me kick it around.
