Does anyone have a 70-72 Cutlass (mine is a 71) with factory A/C and a transmission oil cooler? How/where did you fit the oil cooler? In front of the condenser? Between the radiator and condenser?

Is this even possible or am I going to have to make a choice between comfort and durability?

My car is in pieces right now and I'm looking for a clue card.

Put the cooler in front of the coolant radiator and condensor or you will be blowing hot air over it.
Of course if you do that warm air will be passing over a small part of the condensor and radiator but as long as they are both in good shape it won't matter.

I have always fitted trans coolers so they return via the original heat exchanger in the coolant radiator, the instructions on all the kits I have bought and my local transmission shop recommend doing it this way.

I haven't fitted one to an early '70 Cutlass but I've never come across a car that didn't have enough room to fit one.
I have fitted some to modern fwd Euroboxes with their overcrowded engine bays, the main problem being often having to remove some of the front end (bumpers, grille etc) to gain access.
I don't think you should have any major issues with your Cutlass, one of the delights of older American iron is having plenty of room to work in!.
