Water Pump for my 66 442 with A/C

Can anyone help to locate a water pump for my 400 engine with A/C.
I've gotten water pumps at the local parts houses but when they come in they are only 5" tall. I need to order a pump that is approx 5-1/2" or 5-9/16" tall but all the parts houses don't list the units by the height, and also be the heavy duty impeller.

Try Fusicks or Year One. You could send yours out for a rebuild too if it's a date coded pump and that matters to you for originality?

Well, your problem is that the factory water pump for your car is P/N 388183, which is the 5.09" tall pump. I verified that P/N in the factory parts book. Has your engine been swapped at some point?

This site has the info you need to select a pump that will work.

It looks like you want P/N 230337, which is the 5.57" tall pump from a 1968-69 400 motor with A/C. One aftermarket version of that pump is Airtex AW926, about $56 at RockAuto.

Most new pumps have the stamped impeller and you really need the OEM cast unit. I would find a good core and send it to a rebuilder for best results.

Except that his old pump is the incorrect 5.57", which means his pulleys and/or brackets won't work with the correct 5.09" pump.

GMB makes an aluminum pump that is 5.5, as well as a 6.0, but does NOT make an aluminum 5.0 one. Rock auto has them. You gotta "back door it" by entering the part number found somewhere else. Rock has them - they just dont show up in their catalog search!! Ugh! Joe P knows exactly what i mean!! Hint -- go to summit and find the GMB number -- then take that number to Rock Auto part number search and it will pop up! It may be 130 - 1360? cant rmember for sure. I do know that the 130-1260 is the 6" hub height -- thats the one i use on my 67 400 so i can use the small diameter water pump pulley set from a 73 350 .
