Where can I find matching numbers

I have a 1970 CS.

Here are the numbers I have found. One was on the inside dash under the front window, the other was mounted inside the engine compartment.

I am wanting to know if the engine block is original. It is a 455 and I think the original car came with a 350.

Block stamping is by #1 spark plug and if you have power steering it's behind the bracket. Last six digits on pad should match your dash vin.

Like mentioned, power steering/bracket might get in the way but it will look a lot like this when you finally get there and find it. Its a small area and not as easy to read as this pic might lend it to be.

Specifically, the number should be 30G148693.

Both the block and the trans will have VIN derivative stamps that should match the VIN if they are original. A factory 455 car would have come only with a TH400, not a TH350. Check to see if the trans crossmember has ever been bolted in the forward (TH350) position. There will usually be telltale scrape marks around those bolt holes in the frame if it has. Here are the locations of the VIN derivatives.
