I prefer mecum, but on the obscure days. Not interested in the hi $$$$ stuff.

Mecum they are honest and pretty much know their vehicles pedigree. Also, I do not thing they show much favoritism like BJ does! Everyone seems to get the same amount of time on the "block" at Mecum.

I have to say iam very similar, I also like when they have consigned famous race cars

Barrett got crazy for awhile but now they are joining the velocity channel? And I watched alittle last night and seemed more "normal" they did sell a novelty bar truck based on a vintage ford flat bed but 40 k or there abouts iirc that was kinda goofy

x3 on Mecum, and I watch the first day or two when they have cars I can afford. And I get bored when it is Vette after Vette.

Mecum for sure

I've been to both and actually bought a car last year at Mecum Kissimmee. Mecum is more of a car guy sale. BJ is a rich guy sale.
Mecum's first few days are where the good buys are, the more expensive cars go later in the week. The only bad thing about Mecum is there are more reserve cars for sale than BJ.

Absolutely. The TV coverage of all Mecum auctions is also much better, surprisingly the BJ coverage has been terribly lighted and you can't really see the cars in that big tent. I go to the Mecum Dallas auction every year for entertainment but not sure I would ever buy.

This.

Also, Mecum prices are more grounded in reality, whereas drunk 22-year-old internet jillionaires seem to set the pace at B-J. Those same jillionaires also seem to be the taste arbiters in terms of docket content -- too many "pro-touring" and "restomod" cars at B-J.

Mecum

At least with Mecum (for the most part) the cars are "drivers" and at least somewhat reasonably priced. With BJ...well lets just say that I was watching yesterday and all the cars were museum pieces and seemed to be going for between $500 thousand and $1 million. Not to mention the Futureliner that went for $4 million.

I attended the Mecum Dallas auction for the last 2 years. The TV makes a lot of them look way better than they actually are. Buyer beware if your a sight unseen internet or phone buyer.

B-J has been evolving into the "life style", "place to be seen" event for the glitter-ati for years now. I enjoy tuning in to observe the a## clown with the poodle... Thumbs up to Mecum. Any by the way Steve Magnante, Hurst does in fact reproduce their forged aluminum rims...

X2 on that. Even if you are there in person you can't drive the car or seriously check it out. I've often wondered how many people have serious buyers remorse after getting their purchase home...

That problem isn't unique to Mecum -- I had the same experience at B-J a few years back. A lot of those cars look way nicer on camera than they do up close.
