That is a tragic story. The story stated that there had been 3 previous reports on these dogs. The owner needs to be held responsible. This is a criminal offense IMHO. Prayers for the family.

A local pit bull owner just got an involuntary manslaughter conviction because his pit mauled a 65-year-old neighbor to death in May 2012. Should have been at least second-degree murder because it came out in the trial that the dog owner was involved in organized dog-fighting. All that crap with Michael Vick and these cretins still don't get the message.
I'd link you to the stories but that local paper has instituted a paid online subscription to be able to view more than the headlines.
A Cane Corso is a formidable dog. They're usually pretty good with people but they have to be properly trained and controlled. And if an owner can't or won't control his aggressive breed dog, destroy the dog and hold the owner accountable.

Carry protection at all times, I guess, because there are folks that let their deadly dogs run loose, and the usual gang of human criminals as well...
Seems like a nice length of titanium rod would make an effective anti dog tool. Easy to carry. Unbreakable.
