1970 Olds 442 Brake parts identification

Hi folks:

Need some help. I'm rebuilding the front end of my 1970 Olds 442 and pulled the front rotors and calipers. The car only has 60,000 miles and I'm wondering if the parts I pulled are original. Here are the caliper part numbers:

R 6463637 cast 179? CFD Delco Moraine
L 5463636 cast 228? CFD Delco Moraine

Also, the rotor has a circular grove and the pads have a raised ridge that fits in the rotor grove. Is this original/correct?

Thanks,

Jim

Not sure about the calipers but the rotors most likely are original. Those grooves are wear grooves, when the rest of the surface of the rotor is even with the grooves, it's time for new rotors. At least that's what I've always heard. Any pads used on those rotors will develop those ridges.

I have been told that the single groove in the middle of the disc is an indication that it is original. Both my 71 w30 and 70 Cutlass have it.. Remember this is what I have heard, no proof

it all sounds like original parts and correct. The 179 and 278 on the calipers are date codes. The groove is on original brake rotors. I chucked a set of aftermarket rotors on a lathe and cut these grooves just to make them look original.

Same casting number that is on my original disk brake calipers.
