1966 Delta 88 conv.

I located (2) 1966 Delta 88 convertibles

Car 1: Red, white top 425/ auto was repainted 20+ years ago, then was driven. After ~3K miles the drivers seat caught fire. The fire was put out before too much damage but the ext. dust damaged the interior chrome. The car was parked in a shed.

Car 2: Blue, black top (no engine or trans) was purchased for the interior to repair car #1 the body on the car doesn't look that bad. The car was parked in a shed

Both car have been parked indoors for 20+ years

I don't know the seller and I would like these for myself but I don't have the room to store these cars and if I were to spend the money it should be on the 65 Starfire conv. I recently purchased.

The seller will not seperate the cars $1,500.00. (cars located outside Chicago, IL)

If interested contact me at 309-256-2908 I will get you the email with pictures and contact information of the seller.

Story from seller:
The red one I purchased in 1978. I got it for $100 because it had a bad
engine 425 2 barrel (spun rod bearing and bad crankshaft.) I had an
Oldsmobile mechanic rebuild the engine to factory specs after installing a
new GM crankshaft (I was working part time at an Olds dealership and the
mechanic was a friend.) I had the body shop at a Lincoln Mercury dealership
were I was working part time also, repair and repaint the body (color was
originally gold.) The quarter panel lower rear sections needed some patching
at the time and metal was welded in. The body has held up very well over the
years.
I drove the red car about 3,000 miles and then had a problem. I'm guessing
the power seat motor shorted out, which caused a smoldering seat to fill the
car with smoke, which turned all the pot metal chrome grey. The fire
department came to the rescue and cut a hole in the top to get in and when
they were sure no one was inside, they snuffed the fire with a water can.
I stored the red car in my brother's barn in 1980.
About 4 years later I found the blue one. The guy I bought it from had
dropped in a Buick 350 replacement motor and then had to cut a hole in the
front cross member to access the oil filter. I pulled and sold the motor and
transmission, which paid for the car.
My plan was to take the interior from the blue car, have it reupholstered
black and the red one would live again. But that never came to pass and the
cars have sat in my brother's barn. I've lost my spot in the barn a month
ago, so they are now outside under a tarp and I'm trying to sell them.
They have both held up well, as they've been stored inside for about the
last 27 years. The red cars motor will run again I'm sure, but it will need
to be gone over, as it has sat for so long. Rust on them is minimal. Both
tops will need to be replaced, although the red ones back glass is still
there.
The blue car has left side door dings, hood & front bumper dented, grille
damaged and a few rust holes
The red car has interior surface rust, couple small holes in the floor pan
(not sure about the entire interior floor pan, as it has a lot of seat foam
shreds in it) The only exterior rust is about a 4" rust hole in the
passenger side rocker panel, just below the door.
You get both cars for $1,500 and they each have a title. This does not
include shipping, but I can assist with the loading as needed. They will
need to be winched up onto something, as they don't run.
