i have been doing some research on the 307 oldsmobiles that came in the g bodies and i have modified mine to be near the equivalent of the h. 0. and i was wondering how much horsepower the base 307's and the h. o. 307's came with?

The base 307 (VIN Y)put out a whopping 140hp and the HO put out 180hp.
The HO (VIN 9) had a different cam, EEPROM with different timing curves, duals, and I think the heads were different.

I'll add that 140 HP for a VIN Y motor is probably being generous. Sad but true...

The 307 Y motor in a Delta 88 ran an impressive 20.66 @ 64.66 miles per hour in the 1/4 mile
Of that 140, 90 goes to the wheels

Dual outlets? Were duals ever offered on a 307?

Yep, the VIN 9 engines came with dual outlet exhaust from the factory. While not a true dual setup, the Y pipe was bolted behind the cat converter. It had dual mufflers and resonators and one cat. It was standard on the 442 and H/O in the mid 80's.

Too bad the high performance motor for Olds during the 80s sucked so much. It would have been cool if Olds made an awsome car like the Buick GN in the 80s. I guess the 442 was OK, but it was definitely more show than go. I think I like 84 the best.

Looks like the answer is, no, they did not come with dual exhausts. Thanks. Norm |
