Bid and destroy

Did any of you guys see tonight's episode? They found a 1970 emerald green 442 W-30 in an old garage and sold it for $5800.00. Made me sick.

It was a Post coupe - still had the red wells in it as well as a OE OAI hood. Interior looked really nice and had power windows.

So, is it bad that someone got a good deal on a car, or am I missing something?

I know nothing about this (or pretty much any other) TV show.

I heard about the program and saw a preview once but didn't think they would do cars. It makes sense though because they buy property so it reasons that it would include anything on the property. They buy a property and then sell anything they can on it before the wreckers come in and demolish the whole thing.

You're not kidding ! I'm getting tired of these , so called reality shows ! I think they should be called " NON-reality shows " !

I know some of you guys are fairly well off , so why not just buy as many of these cars as you can find ? You can always just flip them down the road to someone who's actually going to restore them , or give them a good home .

Yup, another unreality show. That show fast and loud, I understand all the cars from past shows are sitting behind their building and the bearded wonder is driving that Ford pickup that was supposedly sold at auction. What a waste of airtime!

I saw a guy I know as a buyer for an item on one of the auction storage shows. I contacted him and asked him...So how staged was that? His exact words. " both those items were and are mine before and after the show"

I don't like Richard because of a car he brought to GG about 7 years ago passing it off as he built it. Guys on the HAMB tracked down the real builder and posted pics of the kid that built it in CA standing next to the same car with a different air cleaner. Anyone that will take credit for someone elses build is a ******** piece of crap.

I know people who know Aaron and I am told he's a good dude and good fabricator just employed buy a low life that weseled his way in to a TV show.

It's actually not that difficult. The process varies from state-to-state, but here in VA the DMV has a very specific process that's detailed on their website. Requires filling out forms and paying some fees, but it's very doable.

That show would be a WHOLE lot better with him not in it. He is an arrogant SOB to boot. And, if you watch close, thier editing of that low budget show sucks ***.

Aaron: "I'm GLAD they didn't send the motor painted. I'm going to paint it black because I HATE Chevy orange."

5 minutes later a freshly prepped ORANGE 350 was sitting in the car. What kinda crap is that?

John

Rumor around town is a dump truck load of manure was dumped in front of his shop last week. He was on TMZ cutting down Jesse James a week before that hmm.

You might not like JJ but you can't take away his incredible fabrication talent.

I think he means that it makes him sick because (like most of us) he wanted to get the good deal.

My Boss called me about 2 hours ago to tell me about this. I haven't watched much TV other than american pickers for a couple years. Now i can't even watch pickers because i had to get rid of the satellite.

Agree totally.
I watched a couple episodes of B&D when I was on vacation last week.
People are not going to leave all their very valuable items in a house that is only partially damaged, take the insurance money and run.
I doubt anyone would be happy enough with their insurance settlement to even do this.
One episode showed a mansion with only one room burned and everything was left. On the opposite end of the house (no damage at all) they found a hockey stick, baseball bat, and baseball signed by famous players from the 50s-60's worth 20k. That was all they took. The owners would be totally dumb not to take those and the safe that had the ball (and other stuff) in it.
I am tired of these dumb shows but with 400 channels now days, a lot of filler material needs to be made to insert between the ads... Here is why I do not have cable or satelite.

x2

The "graffiti" all over the garage looks totally faked
all one color
all done at the same time
nice & fresh
BULLSHED thru & thru

Such things DO happen however. One of my fave photos is from a couple yrs back, a guy I know was doing the bodywork on a '49 Olds in his garage... interior lit night photo. The car owner bought a warehouse in Lansing and found this car in it. Dusty but complete interior, mimimal body rot [for MI, now]... and you can still buy the letters "OLDSMOBILE" for the outside, I found out!

Besides, its not a "four forty two"
Everyone knows it's a "forty-four two" !!!

Yeah, just jealous, the guy told them it was worth like 8 to 10k, it was worth at least double that amount, if not much more.

As someone who was intentionally misquoted (sneaky editing) on the evening news over 30 years ago, before I was 18, I can assure you that the news is the last thing that's "reality-based."

If you can't see it, touch it, or taste it, you can't be sure its real anymore. With photo re-touching and computer editing you can make anything real.

Thirty years ago, the trick was that the questions were being asked by the "producer," but after editing, they were being asked by the "news personality," and they weren't the same questions that had been asked the first time.
No fancy computers needed.
