Well after a 26 year break of regrets of selling my first car a 71 Cutlass floor shift, I'm back in the Olds. family. I just bought a 70 convertible. from 50 feet it looks pretty good. Up close it's a project. This is a great forum, with a wealth of knowledgeable people here. So let me started by asking for good parts houses with catalogs. There isn't one thing on the car that won't need to be addressed.
On the trim tag, the 2nd line reads ( TR 970 75 B PNT ) whats the 970 mean and exactly what is the paint color suppose to be?
Also the fuse box is pretty worn to where you can't read what fuse is for what part of the car. Does anyone have an illustration of the fuse box telling what size fuse goes where and what it controls? My headlights don't work and there were a couple of blown fuses. I'm not sure what the went to or if I put in the correct fuse. Any help would be great.

The first numbers 970 is a time built code, 75 is lower body color, matador red, the B is ( I am guessing) since it is a convertable, is top color, and is black. This is what I have, actual milage may vary...... Kevin

I picked up a couple of outer wheelhouses from tamraz auto. they were the least expensive I could find on the nets. It took a little longer than I expected to get them (about a week and a half) than I expected, but they are goodmark parts. I will be buying from them again if I don't find a doner body for my project soon. OPG (origional parts group) seems to have good prices on stuff too, but have not purchased anything from them yet. I'm sure others will have more to add. Good luck on your new project.

Howdy! nice, sounds like a fun and cool project. Does the car have an owner's manual? should have the fusebox schematic in there I think. In any case after the car the next things you should always buy are an Oldsmobile chassis service manual at the least, then a Fisher Body manual, and a factory assembly manual, all readily available. Then every catalog you can lay your hands on, online works but is a pain when you're covered with grease, my garage doesn't have internet or cell phone access purposefully.

I like USA parts supply, catalog is great, online is plain text lines. Fusicks seems popular, they seem to have the best reputation. Year One is either loved or hated, I use them sometimes and have no major problems, watch for backorders on the most common parts though. Supercars Unlimited, OPGI, National Parts Depot,The Paddock, Restoration Specialties for fasteners and all kinds of neat stuff, Eastwood for specialty paint and resto supplies and tools. Smartshoppers has the best prices for primer and body supplies and tools, spraygunworld has LVLP if you have a small compressor. I like the local NAPA for all the mechanical stuff. Rock Auto online has all kinds of good and obscure mechanical parts too. I will see if I can rustle up a fusebox schematic and post it later after work if you still need it.

I could only find a '71 fuse panel schematic, I know I have a '70 somewhere?
