This just popped up on E-Bay. Has anyone seen this car before?

I'm a bit confused. The seller says it's perfect, flawless, 100 point show car. Yet it has a mini-starter, aftermarket gauges hanging under the dash, roller rockers, electronic ignition, ceramic headers, 3" x-pipe exhaust, 15" wheels, and I'm sure about those seatbelts....

It's a beautiful car, but I think his description as "perfect" leaves something to be desired. I've seen a few 66-67 W-30's at the Olds Nats that I would consider to be much more correct and perfect than this car.

I guess "pefect" is a relative term. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that car has been offered for sale before. Personally, a couple of bolt-on modifications don't bother me, in fact I am doing a "DAY- TWO" resto on a '72 right now. If those "racey" mods were more "perod-correct" (as mine WILL be) then I say "No-Harm--No Foul". Current style parts don't ( in my opinion) help that car and may raise some doubt as to the authenticity or lack of effort in obtaining the genuine items.

100% original or not, you have to admit, that's one helluva gorgeous car!

Dunno if it's worth the "Buy it now" price, but I would guess there's close to that spent on restoring a car to this level of detail in time & materials.

My concern is that it looks to me like the trim tag may have been reaffixed? Do those welds look correct, or is it just me? Also, if you went to that kind of trouble to document it, why leave a washer nozzle hose covering it in the photo...

I've seen this car or a car very close to it up for auction in the last year - can't remember where but the color combo and the L69 was definitely the same. Looks good but a bunch of money.

I'm learning something new here! I didn't know 15" wheels were an option in 1966. Were they a factory option, or a dealer add-on? I thought the 15" rims were full-size and Toronado, not 4-4-2. Or was it part of the Track-Pack option?

I like this 66 4-4-2 as well, and it certainly is a quality restoration. I was just thought it was curious wording. I know most of the items are bolt-on, and can be removed IF the buyer chooses to do so, but the seller seems to be insinuating that it's a 100-point Olds resto, which it is clearly not.

This is almost certainly the resto-mod that Scott Wilborn did a couple years ago. He does top quality work, but had trouble selling the car for anything near what his work is worth, due to a smaller market for a modified W30 without a real racing history. The buy-it-now price is a lot higher than what he sold the car for, iirc.

I personally like the changes he made, and they are sensible for someone who will actually drive/hammer on/race the car. From the headers and Toro oil pan to the Chevy 12 bolt, it is well thought out.

Note also the race harmonic balancer, dual brake master cylinder, and November build date (meaning it came with a 4 barrel).

The car is perfect and I have driven it. It was as a car would have been raced in the day. The 8.2 B-P OEM axles were junk as were the Muncie trans if a car had slicks. Scott Wilborn built this car and probably is the premier 66 442/W30 restorer in the country. Unforeseen business problems caused him to sell the car. What's wrong with the seat belts?

Although this car is perfect and period correct, that seems like a Barrett-Jackson price, to me, anyway!

Try and build one for that price. If this car was anything other than an Oldsmobile it would bring top dollar. Id rather have this car over any 66 GTO or Chevelle. On looks alone this car is a winner.

Those black seat belts with Fisher Body emblem in the buckle are the correct standard belts for an F85 with turquoise interior.

FYI, I am the gentleman who owns the '66 Olds that you all are discussing. First off, I NEVER advertised this car as NUMBERS MATCHING, or ALL ORIGINAL etc.! It was restored / built to be a period correct Street Racer and you'll be hard pressed to find another as sweet. I have quite a few ALL ORIGINAL, NUMBERS MATCHING Oldsmobile Muscle Cars and I guarantee that you boys would have a tough time finding anything that is NOT correct on them. I know what I have here, and I can safely say that it's one of the coolest Olds I have ever seen. As for the "100 Point Show Car" comment, not all categories are for completely stock examples! This car will win First Place @ any National Car Event in the "Slightly Modified" category. As for price, try and build one for what I am asking. Thank you to the few who actually said something nice and didn't try to belittle my car. Life is too short for that nonsense ~

Like I said,I know the car well and I have driven it,WAIT,no,I pounded the absolute pi$$ out of it. Not to worry,the car is built to take anything you can throw @ it. I'm one of those guys who doesn't have to lift on the gas pedal between shifts. I cut my teeth on Chevy stockers with 4 speeds and 5.57 gears,you were looking for second gear going by the X-Mas tree.
