Wild About Cars is Looking for People and Oldsmobile Info

I know many of you have seen the thread where there was a series of comments on Wild About Cars (WAC) and the relationship between that website and the Olds Performance Club (OPC). As a result, some of you have come on over and either joined WAC or the OPC or both. But many of you have not so . . .
What I'd like to do here is explain what WAC is all about and how the OPC dovetails into it. First, let me say that WAC or the OPC are not intended to replace any forum. Forums are a great place to meet and talk and ask questions, etc. and that is great.
What WAC is all about is about being a storehouse for knowledge both via hard copies of original factory materials, brochures, ads and even extracts from car magazines. All this material is downloadable by any member of WAC. Everything has been restored to "like new" condition, so when you pull it down, it is as if you had an original copy in your hand.
So if you are looking for extracts from a Chassis Service Manual (say you don't want your copy to get greasy fingerprints on it), or you'd like to see a printable copy of your favorite ad for your car, or the brochure that just can't be found anymore, or maybe you'd like to read what Hot Rod Magazine said about your 66 442, then WAC is the place to go. You can find all this at http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-bin/globaltemplate.cgi?id=11 but please – register first (it's FREE)!
We also are starting out with a list of "experts". But the difference is that we are not putting them on-line where people can deride their knowledge or drive them nuts when they try to help out, What we are doing is posting a listing of their expertise – by car or type of knowledge and giving you a link to their website (if they have one) or giving you one-click access to their e-mail. This way you can look at a person's background and determine if they are the right one to ask. You can see how we have this broken out by going to http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-bin/pub9990262549556.cgi?categoryid=9970278787611 .
We are doing a lot more, but we think that these things alone are worth you dropping by and joining. Check it out. You can go to www.wildaboutcars.com and click on the "register" button and see more of what we are doing – then go register. There are a lot of moving parts to WAC, but if you stick to the "Downloads", "Advice" and the "News and Stuff" buttons, you'll get a lot of value.
So what I'd like to say is that you can participate in WAC, AND help us grow by offering up either expertise or materials that you might have that we don't. And if you don't have anything to help out with – then take advantage of our resources – you will be glad you did.
Now about the OPC. Contrary to what you might think, the OPC is a real-world club. They have car meets, sponsor car shows, and publish a newsletter, just like any other real world club. How they are affiliated with WAC is that one of the features of WAC is that it has the ability to "host" satellite websites for clubs – FREE! Like any other real-world club, the OPC charges dues, but like a real world club it is to fund things like their drag meets and car shows. There is no requirement to PAY to SEE the OPC website, many things are wide open to anyone who comes along. The fee is to support club activities.
You can access the OPC site thru WAC or you can go to their specific doorway at www.oldsperformanceclub.com . The obvious advantage is that you can see what is going on in the OPC, and then quickly head over to WAC to grab some info (just a button click away) any time you want.
One of the great deals that the OPC (and other WAC clubs) has is a real-time calendar. You can see what events have been posted by going to their calendar and just clicking on a date! The OPC also has a great photo album with hundreds of pictures that you can access any time as well.
Come on, help the Olds hobby grow – join up and take part. (When you do you will get a "Where the Heck Am I?" document that will guide you around the website.
