Olds in Burt Reynolds movie

In the movie "White Lightning" w/Burt Reynolds, did he drive an Olds? I seem to remember being told that it was a "special" edition by my Dad but I'm not sure. I seen it a loooooooong time ago.

DOH! I read that on the IMDB site but at some point, he drove what I think was a '55 88 Holiday. It might not be this movie. But it did star Burt.

The movie your talking about is WW & the Dixie Dance Kings with Burt Reynolds filmed in 1975. He drove a 55 Olds 88 that was painted to look like some type of made up special edition. They filmed that movie in Nashville close to where I was working at the time and we used to go down on Music Row in the evenings and watch the filming and see the car.

Beat me to it. I just Googled "Burt Reynolds 55 Olds" and came up with the answer.

So the car was fictional if I understand you correctly?

Yes it was. The best I can remember it was a 55 Super 88 Holiday Sedan that had fender skirts. It was painted Black and Gold and was according to the movie supposed to be a special edition that was really fast. I am sure there are pictures of the car out there. I think the car was in private ownership some years after the movie here in Nashville. If my memory serves me correctly, there might have even been several made for the movie and one of them was destroyed during the filming in one of the scenes, but it has been a long time since I watched the movie. It was a really sharp looking car.

in white lightning, the funniest part is where they show burt reynolds sitting in the driver's seat of a 4 speed Mach 1,but then taking off in a Galaxie 500.

they had cheesy sound effects of a stick car,but you could clearly see reynolds slamming the column shift into drive several times.

that movie's budget must have been $50,including those old cops cars they totalled

The funniest part of Burts movies between 'Deliverance' and 'Boogie Nights' is that he played the same guy in every movie.
