OPGI anyone have trouble with their service?

I ordered some armrest parts for my cutlass. Everything was in stock except 1 item . No big deal. Ordered on Saturday, weekend so figured probably ship out on Monday eve or Tuesday at the latest. Called and said it's shipping out sometime tomorrow. WTF ? To me that seems kinda slow. Anything I have ordered , even 3000 dollar guitars usually ship out that day or the next morning.

Anyone else underwhelmed with their service or am I being unrealistic?

People today have come to expect 24 hour shipping, but in reality, it is only the biggest of Internet sellers that you can expect this from. Now, is the busiest time for the hobby, and in my opinion, 3 or 4 days isn't unreasonable. The Corvair vendor that I deal with for one of my cars, told me that they are filling up 2+ UPS trucks a day with outgoing orders. They are extremely efficient in the order taking and shipping, but that is the exception rather than the rule. They can ship a complete interior kit in less than a weeks time, but a full sized Chevrolet interior from another vendor, too almost 3 months to get the whole kit to a friend of mine. It arrived in bits and pieces every few weeks, because he complained, and wanted to cancel the order. By shipping a few pieces they were able to avoid the cancellation. Just be happy that there are companies out there that are willing to invest in reproducing parts that we need to keep our cars on the road.

JMO but there are better places to go than OPGI. They were running a special on car covers so I order one that goes on backorder. They said they had no idea when it would be available so I cancelled. Another time I ordered the non-original style in dash tach they sell. It was on back order for a year. I finally cancel & they say its coming in next week.

OPGI in my experience takes a couple days at least to ship, along with others Olds vendors I use. Rockauto would be the exception, fast shipping there.

I usually call and verify in stock or backordered. Backordered, I go to the vendor that has it in stock. For car covers, I use California Car Cover.

I had all kinds of trouble with them from a radiator with wrong sized outlet, to seat covers that did not fit and smartazz people at the other end of the phone. I stay away if at all possible.

I've only ever ordered from OPGI when the part I want is in stock. That being said, I never order from them if I need the part rushed. They take their own sweet time.

I called them about it about 3 years ago when a part that I had ordered on a Thursday, still had not been shipped by the following Wednesday. They told me that it takes time to receive and process the order and then take it to the warehouse. "TAKE IT TO!?!?. They made it sound like they were actually hand carrying printed orders to another building, and this was in 2014.

Sooo....

I ordered a front armrest kit from them last week. Website said everything was in stock. After i ordered I get the confirmation , but one of the armrest pads is on backorder. No big deal until I see that it's expected in 5/1. Well crap. So I check the internet and see that there is one at Summit Racing in stock. Since Summit is 10 minutes from my house I ordered it and called opgi and cancel my back order. It's the exact one that opgi sells. But 30 days out wtf?

So opgi falls from my preferred vendor( I only ordered twice from them so far), to in case of emergencies. Also I find their prices higher than most. I was looking for an oem shifter ****. They wanted 70 bucks , I found it elsewhere for 40.

OPG has been like this FOREVER... Some things never change.
I've been avoiding them since they strung me along with backorders and promises 15 years ago. Back then i had to get my CC involved to get my money back for stuff they billed but could not ship.

I have never had a problem like that with the other reproduction resellers.

The only thing I get from them is their catalog. It has pretty pictures that are nice to look at and dream.

I have to admit, looking at the OPG catalog is like being a kid again and looking through the Sears Christmas catalog. Lot's of drooling and dreaming.
