Thinking about taking the Olds out for a spin this weekend . Am I nuts?

Here in NE Ohio we have had a mild winter and this weekend it's supposed to be sunny and mild. Supposed to be in the 60s on Saturday. Just thinking of taking the Cutlass out for a spin or two, but it's the middle of February. Surely thi is not normal thinking.

If you can, do it! My concern is salted/sanded roads. If they are clean, why not?

I know I have a few more months in NY...

I would like to take out the Jetfire but my concrete in the garage is to cold to open the door yet. If I open the door now it would suck in to much warm damp air. I am thinking about turning the heater on in there for a couple days to get the floor warmed up.

I would do it. I guess I'm spoiled, living, in Cal, where we do it any day it isn't raining. Never really thought about, being to cold. I grew up in So Dak, and my first Olds was a 68 442, and I drove it every day, till I moved to Cal. I even drove it with snow chains, was my only car.

I was thinking the same thing! It will be a handful of degrees less than you, but we have had two rains and the salt is off the roads up here in mid Michigan.

With any luck I will pull a quick safety/fluid check and be on my way to work Saturday.

I thought the same thing here last weekend. The weather forecasters said "upper 60's to low 70's" all weekend with no chance of rain. Sunday morning it was sunny so I took her out of storage for a little cruise. By early afternoon, it had dropped to the mid 50s and was raining.

I was none to happy. D@mn weathermen!

I've driven my Olds many times recently. If the roads are dry I will generally drive if the high is 50* or above.

It's suppose to be near 60 this weekend. Unless your A body is a concours restoration you might as well enjoy it. Jmo

My 66 is in storage under a nice warm cover in a Pontiac GTO owners shop and not coming out until 4/1. Weather in Medina, Ohio is not different from Akron. I do miss it however. Think spring. OCA Dust Off is 5/7.

Wow. I'm only 50 miles west of you and the roads are covered with white powder here. Salt, not snow. They use so much salt here that I don't even think of taking the summer cars out until late April.

I wouldn't worry about it. I took my car out a couple weeks ago.

It is what it is. Unless you have a 50k+ restored car, who cares. If it's dry and warm, go and enjoy it.

Yes, you guys get a ton of lake effect. Once you get to my area it maybe one tenth of the accumulation. The last rain, we had some light freezing in parking lots and sidewalks. Damn contractors put down so much that some parking lots look like a saltmine!

Took mine out today. 57 degrees, a little chilly but top down and short sleeves. Tomorrow supposed to be 70 but may have to work so... Enjoy it while you can, I say.

Tempted on LI. Warm but still snow & ice on the ground so it stays away until we get a good rain to wash the salts away. Also saw a post on FB that people were organizing a cruise at the beach which would be nice but I had to pull my carb off.

Well shoot. It has been beautiful yesterday and today so I took her out both days for a few short drives. It didnt take much to get it started and she drove and ran great. Put her back in the garage . It felt good and for February this is ridiculous in NE Ohio. gonna do a few things before cruising season gets in full swing.

Weather was perfect here. It was not humid like I suspected it would be. I was able to get one of my cars out earlier today also. Got some pictures of it for eBay.

A few weeks ago the roads were clean and dry after some heavyrain. If I had the time I would have taken mine out. I did see a number of classiccars out driving around. I had a good two weeks or more when my everyday driverwas clean and stayed salt free.
