crossmember swap

finished installing the 1973 duel hump crossmember in the 76 supreme today .went in very well with no drilling. all bolt holes lined up perfectly .the biggest challenge was reinstalling the e-brake cable. the passenger side cable guide that goes in the crossmember didnt quite fit like it should so i had to modify it resulting in the e-brake cable being much tighter than it was originally.had to run cable on top of the crossmember on the drivers side as it was under the original crossmember .backed off on the tensioner to readjust the e-brakes.i wonder if having the 73 cable guides would have helped ?

yes..when ya do a swap like that, all the parts work together..so the 73 stuff is what would work better, but as long as theres no drag..it should be fine

no, i dont remember..its just been so long since i had one, its just not in my memory

when i get stuck like that, i google things like 73 cutlass click on images and look til i find it, and believe me its there..just takes time..remeber by 73 the stuff got really generic across all the lines..so any GM A body could be a match

heres the search i used for google

73 cutlass double hump cross member

exactly 1 minute turned this up..theres a pic..its a 73 malibu..but bet its the same..theres detail pick of the crossmember and the brake cables

http://www.bangshift.com/forum/forum...arlo-rip/page4

heres another..with an aftermarket cross..but it shows the routing

http://www.g3gm.com/t574-dual-exhaus...members-custom

and another from the bottom looking forward you can see the cables

http://www.g3gm.com/t10522-the-rusty-carlo

this search was 73 cutlass frame

and with the body off
