Ok guys, I need some help. I need to replace the right quarter on my 69 Cutlass. I have a donor car for complete quarters. My problem is the removal of the old panel. I can see all of the spot welds everywhere on the quarter, but I am stumped as to how the quarter and the rocker come together. I did a search on here and still couldn't find anything explaining or showing how that area is joined. So, how are and where are the quarter and the rocker welded together? Are the quarter and rocker attached to each other at all? Thanks for the help.

I haven't received any answers to this question in the "Major Projects" section of the site, so I thought I'd post this question maybe more appropriately here...

While my '65 Cutlass convertible is in the body shop, I'm having the chrome re-done and the stainless polished.

What should my expectations be for the sections of the tail panel that have the satin/matte finish? Can a chrome shop reproduce both the matte and polished finishes on the same piece? Or will these sections have to be painted? I hope not the latter... that would look stupid.

I am planning to have one of my '58 Olds 88s restored/repainted and I need to one; remove the windshield, rear window and will need new seals/rubber or 'rope'(?) to reinstall.. two; I may need to replace the windshield, due to discoloration/ 'fogging' and etching/scratches... any ideas where I can readily find the items ? or as people have suggested it might be hard to find Windshields for Oldsmobile, can I or is it possible to use a windshield from a Chevrolet... if so what year make/model?

I have looked thru some of my old car Mags and found some companies that have window seal/rubber, but mostly for Ford and Chevy cars.... not much for Olds, particularly older models.

Appreciate any help....

I am unable to post pictures of it at the moment since I don't have a digital camera. They don't seem to be extra tricky or anything, I just have not done much bodywork in the past, I would like to try this one out. I can borrow a small hammer for bodywork and a few dollies, but other than that I don't know what tools i need or where to start. Do any of you know of some good videos that show how to do this kind of work, preferably free streamed over the internet videos ( like youtube). Or even a couple of tips for me. Thanks

I think most of it will be straight forward except the stone guards and sash.
I see square flat tabs on the stone guards in the lip edge. The stripped doors I have seen have rounds holes for both pieces. Is there a large mounting plate that attach's to the stone guards or several small ones? Do I need to come up with an alternate way to mount them?

Ok guys, here's the issue. Got the car media blasted last week. Roof is pinholed all over with some bigger holes as well and so is one sail panel.

--Tamraz offers a new roof for $350 with roughly $150 in S+H to add on.
--A few friends recommend using Durabond and just skimming it.
--Found a roof and sails from a desert car in AZ for roughly $600. I can drive there to get the parts.
--Another buddy mentioned getting a whole new body to throw on the frame. None found available yet.

Add all this to the fact that my quarters need replaced too so I have a repair that goes into a repair, that goes into a repair.

I live in Las Vegas, willing to travel some for parts. What do you guys recommend? I'm a lil overwhelmed here. And like EVERYONE else, I'm broke. This car isn't supposed to be a concourse resto, but I want it looking pretty damn nice.

Hi all.

I survived a car crash a few weeks back with practically no damage on me or anyone else... unlike my 1968 442. It seems that only the body (of the car) took damage, roof for most of all but also the skin panels on both sides of the car.

So now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the car. If I start to restore it, there are two options in my opinion:
1. I'll have someone to straighten the dents and the roof aswell
2. I get the skin panels and if possible the whole roof (body+skin) from some salvage yard.

I'll go with the cheaper option. The problem is I live in Europe so salvage yards specialized in old american cars are close to none to my knowledge, at least in the region where I live. Anyhow, to decide which option to go with I would appreciate any help trying to find part dealers, preferably from east coast since the parts need to be shipped to the old continent. So far I've found a bunch of dealers selling repro panels for 442s (Brother Automotive Products, Yearone...).

Also I would like to know what panels are interchangeable between 68 and 69 models. Same thing with cutlass VS 442. How about hardtop VS convertible (since the passenger side windows busted it may be cheaper to buy the whole passenger side door)?

I'll post some pics later on, thanks

MJ
