I'm pulling my rear apart to clean it,paint it, and replace the ring and pinion. I have not done this in about 17 years and can't remember how the pinion gear comes out of the housing. Do I use a special tool to pull it out? Drawing a blank. Thanks guys and gals. Vinny

330 to 455 component swap

I am swapping out the 330 in my 1965 Olds Wagon for a 1970 455 and need some information on the interchangeability of the front brackets that mount the A/C compressor, alternator, power steering and motor mounts from the 330 to the 455. The 455 is basiclly a long block and has no accessories on it.
I have seached the forums and the internet for the answer but have not really found one that fits my question. Can I use the existing 330 brackets or do I have to buy different ones for the 455? I plan on running aftermarket intake, headers, carb and distributor so that is all taken care of. Any HELP you all could throw my way would be greatly appreciated.

So I am changing over from single to duel exhaust. I ordered the manifolds (left and right) from Thorntons and will be getting mufflers either from Flowmaster or Megaflow( toss up right now ). The question on the exhaust is does it run straight back from both manifolds to exit the rear? I have seen some exhaust job pics on different threads but always on Cutlass' or 442's etc and they always run from manifolds to X crossover then to mufflers. But the full size 98 may be different? I want to improve the performance of the car by adding the duel exhaust , I just put an aftermarket air cleaner on the rebuilt carb and took it out for a run and it works better. On the highway once in high gear she was really pulling strong til I hit around 100mph then the speedometer needle started going haywire bouncing back and forth from 0 - 120 four or five times and the needle broke off:(
I guess problem 2 is going to be getting a new speedo cable and fixing the needle. I have no idea about how to fix the needle part of this problem but I did read on a thread about a company here in Canada that makes speedo cables. Anyone know who that is? And anyone know what I need to fix the needle?

I have been looking around the Internet for some sizes of wheels/tires for my car, but I am not sure if I have it right. What I am considering is 18" Foose Nitrous wheels with 255/45/18 Nitto 555 tires. After looking and figuring, I believe that size will work, but I am not sure and would like to defer to the more experienced here.

What about it? Is that a proper size, or do I have it wrong?

Trying to sort out the cowl tag on my 67 Cultass Supreme Conv.Got most of the stuff I need from the Oldsmobility site.
Couple of things I can't figure out.

1)Trim code is 988-B. 988 = yellow and I assume bucket seats as apparently 67 bench seats didn't come in yellow. What does the "B" stand for?
2) Paint Code is Y-6. Y = Yellow. What is the "6"
3) The last code, which is stamped below the trim code,is " W 2E "
No idea what that is.
Pretty weird that my trim looks like yellow painted over Parchment when its a yellow trim car.

Is there a way to tell from the numbers what colour the top was when it rolled off the assembly line...or is that what the "6" is?

All assistance gratefully appreciated as always.
