1946247 Ballast Resistor ?
Hi Olds lovers,
Does anyone have any info on a GM ignition ballast resistor p/n 1946247.
I do not presently have this resistor but have found mention of one and am wondering what it's resistance value is or what it may have been used on ?
By the number sequence it would appear to be an early 60's part number.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Jerry

If you don't have this resistor, then why do you need to know more about it?
Why not just set up your car the way you want and then get the resistor that you need?
By the way, the standard Olds coil and resistor values are:

eBay sellers seem to think similar-looking resistors are for '57 to '64 full-size V8 cars and some Corvettes.
Sounds right to me.
I don't know anything more specific, but here's a link to the eBay photo of that resistor:

What car do you have?
What engine?
What type of ignition?
As Joe likes to say, the mind reader is on the fritz today.

Okay, hey, whatever.
But if you want to know what resistor to use, someone here could probably just tell you.
If you already know what resistor to use, and the resistor posted above isn't it, then I'm not sure why you asked your question.

Hey, QIK 59
Hey, QIK59 --
MDchanic was doing his best to help you -- as HE ALWAYS does!!!! --
he was asking you what car, points or electronic ignition, etc., etc.
-- those questions are critical to your success......
and you kinda blew him off!!!!!!!!!!!!
You need to read a thread, entiltled,
"All C.O. ers NEED to read this"..............wil serve you well!!!

The only success I was hoping for was to get info/specs on p/n 1946247.
Until Mr MD googled the # - I never thought to do that
I didn't ask anyone to analyze what I'm doing / working with - I am perfectly capable of evaluating info and making my own decisions.
Amen
