High beam indicator

My high beam indicator does not work. I have pulled the gauge and checked the bulb and it is good when I hook it a direct power source. I does appear the some bulbs are dimmer or not working on one side of the gauge. But all bulbs check out when directly powered. Any suggestions?

May need a little more information. Year, Model, etc. Usually dim bulbs are a bad ground issue.

Clean contacts of bulb sockets, circuit board pads, and cluster connectors.

The indicator lamp is powered from a wire that comes directly off the dimmer switch. If the high beams come on, there is power at the output of the switch. Start there. Disconnect the wires from the dimmer switch and apply +12v to the high beam wire. If the indicator lamp still doesn't come on, trace the circuit. Check this wire for continuity where it plugs into the instrument panel connector. If bad, fix the break. If good, check the connections on the indicator lamp socket. Be sure the ground side is making contact also.
