How to wire ammeter with a 1 wire alternator?

Hi, if I put a 1 wire alternator in my 67 442, how can I make it activate the factory amp guage? Thanks, Joel

Why do you want to use a one-wire alternator? If you want an internally regulated alternator, simply get a 12SI and wire it like this:

THe reason that I am cosidering using a one wire is that the car is comming out of 24 years of storage, and the regulator looks corroded, plus I have a new one wire alternator that I got in a barter deal. If it won't work with the amp guage, that makes a difference.
I'm driving the car on Hot Rod's Power Tour in June, and I want it to be reliable.
So what do you think, should I give up on the one wire deal, or can I make it work?

Joel, this has been discussed before in previous threads. You can use the search option to find them, but you can read through this one for a little more background. It sounds to me like the one wire alternator is not the way to go. John

Also you might want to check the new one-wire alternator you have if it is a 10 or 12Si case look for a rubber plug where the factory plug goes if you pull it out most aftermarket one wires already have the internal regulators then all you need is to pick up a plug at your local autoparts or a spare from a newer car and splice it in per Joe's diagram ,,,,

You can't tell how good a regulator is by how it looks.
