I have just purchased 1987 Olds. Ninety-eight and the headlights and dash lights do not work!
Dose anyone have any answers? |

This may sound too obvious but this question needs to be asked. Have you checked the fuse?

Great, I am so glad you found it. That is an example of the kind of problems that can vex us for a long time. Wiring can be a real trouble when corrossion occors, it's hard to locate sometimes. Happy driving.

I certainly agree that corrosion can create electrical gremlins. I inherited a 1979 Olds Delta 88 from my dad back in 1992. The car had sat unused in South Florida for about three years. The car had at least a dozen electrical problems, and I spent about two weeks going through and cleaning electrical connections, including behind the dashboard, before everything was straightened out.

speaking of '79s, I once owned a '79 98 fourdoor with a 403, the car was for my daughter to use at highschool and was pretty rough when we bought it. Anyway, I sold it after about two years when she graduated and went to college. I just saw that car again after three years at a local car show. It was really rough! but still going strong. The guy I sold it to let his grandson drive it in highschool. Wasn't there something about Timex watches? Keeps on ticking........
