Just wondering, there are 2 electrical connectors on my 66 starfire throttl linkage, the part mounted on the firewall. Anyone know where they go to or what they are for? theres no problem, just wondering what they are for.

I think they're for the switch pitch torque converter.

That is the switch pitch switch. These were located on the firewall on full size cars.

Is this the car with the newer motor? Trans might have been changed too.

The original transmission in that car had variable pitch vanes in the torque converter. That switch on the firewall changed the pitch of the vanes according to throttle position. This provided more torque to get moving from a dead stop, then turn the vanes "off" once underway to prevent drag. At least that is how I understand it. Someone else may have a different answer. It is very different to feel the on & off of the vanes, though every now and then I used to think I could feel it switching in my '67.

If you've got a newer transmission, you don't have those variable vanes and that is why it's not connected.

nah, its got the newer 455 motor, but they "say" that they just rebuilt the tranny, thats how he bought it, with a blown tranny, so he rebuilt it and blew the motor So I believe its still got the TH400 it should have but I ahvent had it on a lift yet to truly find out, and I ahvent driven it much since its out of order at the moment. I want to get it on the lift to find the tranny stamp and see if its still really a th400. thanks for the info though.
