Temp guage issue

Hey Guys,

A few weeks back I was working on connecting a ground cable to the bracket that holds the electronic control of the dealer installed cruise control. Hit a power spot and sparked. Since my temp guage does not read. When you turn over the engine the guage does as usual goes full over to 250 degrees, when you let up after the car starts, it returns to base.

I have wiggled the single connector on the temp sensor on the intake, nada...
Did I ruin the intake sensor or guage or what.

Alex

Chances are your sending unit is bad. To test remove the green wire and ground it, the gauge should peg hot, open the circuit and it should go all the way to cold. We know the gauge works because the self test is operating during start. If it does as I explained above change the sender.

Update on temp sender issue.

I put in a replacement sending unit from a former AC Delco store with a guy who has been there ions. BUT while it physically looked like the old sending unit, it didn't function as such. Even called the guy back to verify.
I ended up ordering a new unit from Summit catalog. Along with a somewhat universal license plate lamp I now don't need.

Guage works like should ! Woo hoo
