68 Cutlass Horn mounting location

Hi all. Newbie here to the forum. I recently purchased a 1968 Cutlass convertible 442 tribute car. I needed to get some things done to pass the state inspection and one of which is horns. The car for whatever reason did not have them. I bout the two hi and low tone with brackets but I cannot seem to find much on the internet in the way of pictures as to where they need to be located. Ultimately, i guess it doesn't matter from an inspection standpoint but i would like them where they are supposed to be. Can anyone here tell me, or better yet post some pics of where they are supposed to mount. I also have a 67 camaro and the horns are mounted on a brace in the middle of the grill in front of the radiator. This car has no such brace other than the small one with the hood release so I am not sure if it should have one and thats why I can't find any matching locations or if the horns are supposed to be somewhere else.

Thanks for the help.

The horns were usually mounted in the front of the car behind the grille. After all, the idea was that they be heard by others.

What you need for this car more than anything else is factory service manual. They are readily available on ebay.

Don't get a CD copy as they're just scans of a paper copy and, and details are often difficult to read.

Remove the grille and the horns mount directly behind the hood latch with one screw each through the twin holes for screw and locator tab.

Thanks Yellowstatue. I did take the grill off and there is one hole in the latch/support rod that I can see working but I do not see two and there doesn't appear to be any way that the same hole world for both.

Does anyone have pics?

Here's some photos from a loose core support. It only has the drivers side horn mounted, but there's a photo of the two holes for the passenger side one. If you got the factory horns there will be a short stub on the mounting bracket that fits into the second hole next to the bolt hole. Let us know if you still have any questions.

That's perfect. Exactly what I needed. Thank you.

In the '68 assembly manual section 12, page 137, it gives a drawing of where the horns are placed. See pic below.

There was never a 3-horn option, other than that offered by jaunty75!

Funny but that wasn't such a dummy question as GM offered it on some models or it was standard on some models.
