Just got the 62 Dynamic 88 in, needs tires

The car was delivered yesterday and first it needs is tires. For what little I will driving her, I looked at Hankook tires at Discount Tire. Question is: will a 225/70x14 clear and not rub when turning. I want a little bigger tire to fill out the wheel wells. Right now its has rotted F70 14's on it.

225/70 should fit fine. I have Mastercraft 225/75R14 on my 64 Starfire and don't get any rubbing.

It's a shame large 14" tires are so hard to find now. Even 225/235 15" tires are getting tough.

I've found the nice thing about discount tire is they will let you experiment with their stock. They've always been more than helpful with me on playing with different wheel and tire combinations until I find what I like. I buy all my stuff with them.

Good luck finding 14" whitewalls anywhere except specialty suppliers.

Don, this car will sit way more than driven. I'm going to get those Hankook blackwalls for the time being. 225/70 14. I looked at the Cooker whitewalls very nice.

Coker tires are not very good. They have a LOT of durability issues. If you're looking for a specialty tire, Diamondback is a much better choice.

x2 on Diamondback. They'll take a new (American-made if they can get it) tire casing and vulcanize any width whitewall, red-gold-blue stripe, or combination onto the tire. They stand behind their product long as you don't use a bleach-type tire cleaner.

The Coker family has supported the old car hobby for many years but I also hear some of their tires are troublesome. Read about one family who put a set of their radial wide whites on a 1960 Buick just prior to driving it from Washington State to Flint for a BCA national and ended up having to replace the entire set of four on the road. Think the last one had to be replaced somewhere in South Dakota on the return trip. Considering the cost, those tires should have been flawless.

That's a great way to spoil a trip in your Classic! I have a set of Red Line Diamondbacks on my 67. Never have had any issues. The rears have really held well, especially when the 455 lays down 200 feet of rubbe, banging gears and the interior fills with smoke. Yeah Ha....

for a alternative good priced white wall I have used and still run on my car tires from Calli tire and wheel, they do like Diamond tire and apply a white wall to a existing carcass but use import tires. I have gotten good service and great mileage out of the set I have..... Tedd...http://www.callitw.com/

I have these on my 98 in 15" 235. They are decent. I have goodyear comfortread on my Lincoln, I wish they made a taller/thicker one with whitewall as those are awesome tires - smooth and soft.

Have you thought about going to 15in. I have a set of 15 inch rims waiting for me to put on my 64 88. Finished with suspension work so now planning on getting 15 inch. Want white walls. The cost of 14in ww now is off the rails. You'll get a better ride and have a greater choice with 15. Got a gift card awhile ago for tires but still have not chosen the brand.

I put a new set of Handcook 225x14's on for $325.00. Discount Tire had a 4th of July sale. At some point soon I'm going to sell the 88 and restore my 63 Corvette.
