66 Dynamic 88 Convertable
I found this poor thing hiding in the woods. I think I'll
try to save it from the crusher. 66 Olds (Custom) (2).jpg What are the specs on it. I think it is a 425. The engine is a 2 barrel. No AC. Thanks, Bob |

Nice find, my dad has an unrestored '66 F-85 coupe.
I don't know my specs well enough to guarantee engine options... It could be a 425 though I don't know if they were available with a 2 barrel carb, it could also be a 330 (that's what the F-85 has/\) or it could have a 400. Those I THINK were the engine options for '66. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong!!

Nice car, looks like it has a lot of potential. The full size cars (88, 98, Toro) came w/ a 2 or 4 bbl 425 and usually a turbo 400 trans. The exception to this is the Jetstar 88 which has the 330. Good luck w/ it.

Looks like it can be saved.....Yes it should have a 425 and 2bbl was standard issue engine. If it still has the original air cleaner it would be red/orange for a high compression engine and black for low compression.....also gas filler cap should say premium fuel only for the HC engine....trans should be a turbo 400 although a 3speed standard was standard issue but next to none came that way.....parts are fairly easy to get...Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies.
The pic shows its best side. The driver side frt. fender and fender support are gone and the drivers door is pushed in. The car has been setting outside for several years. The top was covered with a tarp but that and the top caved-in a couple of years ago so the interior has been soaked with rain and snow. The bottoms of the quarters are rust out. No keys so I haven't seen inside the trunk. Some damage to the left front bumper and headlight. On the plus side all the glass is good including the glass rear window and all the trim seems to be there. I can get it for scrap price so it's not a big investment. I don't know whether to try to save the whole thing or just the drive train. Thoughts? Bob |

Thoughts?....With the description ya just gave sounds like a lot of work and thought I was the only one glutton for punishment with these beasts. I too bought a 66 Delta convertable for 500 bucks that was sideswiped by a bus.....turns out it needed a door and quarter and had no engine or trans....am still working on it now and then. Luckily the floors and trunk were solid but did need some welding at trunk seal area under the seal.......To do the work this Dynamic needs you are going to have to love this car a lot.....would like to see it done!

Hello, It doesn't look like it has been there too long. Sitting outside on dirt really ruins them fast. They are a nice looking car. 425 2-barrel, they are probaly the best size of the Olds engines. I live near Youngstown, Ohio. I have some parts if u need anything. Later, Ken

As long as you realize going into the project that it'll be a LOT of hard work or be expensive and are willing to make that commitment than I would definately say restore it rather than tear it apart, but it all depends on your limitations either in time or $

let me know if you need any parts...i have a few things lying around from my resto (brake parts,convertible top cylinders, taillights, front grill, ft bumper, headlight bezels, ac vents and a few other goodies)
its a great car to restore...a little harder than the average chevy to find parts and a little more expensive. but well worth it because these are solid hardcore american made tanks. enjoy! ![]() |
