Shock replacement

Shock replacement
What vehicles would I be able to use shocks from on my 1964 Jetstar 88? I know this is a broad question, but I know next to nothing about shock interchangeability, and I haven't been able to find a source of shocks for my car.

Really? I seem to be able to find them pretty easily.
I searched on the Autozone website just now and turned up Gabriel shocks for both the front and rear of your car.
Rear ones are part number 82089 and front ones are 82079. Each is $21.99 apiece.
Fusick also shows availability of shocks for your car. They're on page 31 of their current catalog (21BC). They're more expensive, as Fusick items usually are, and they don't give a brand name. They're $39.50 apiece.
For your car, fronts are part number 50140G and rears are 50177G.

Geez, for a guy who two seconds ago couldn't find shocks at all, you're getting awfully demanding!
Frankly, I doubt you can, although you certainly could check with a tire shop or something like that and see what they have.
But you're talking a Jetstar 88 here. Not exactly a performance machine. What are you planning to do, take corners at 90 miles an hour? I imagine that for any kind of driving you might be planning to do with this car, a good, fresh set of standard shocks will do you just fine.

I think a better description might be "visions of grandeur."
I used to have just the car you have. I owned it from 1991 to 1996. Here's a photo of it sitting in the line at a local cruise-in from back then.
I know what these cars can do. I had shocks put on at the time by a local independent tire shop. I have no recollection of what brand they were or anything like that, but whatever they were, they worked just fine.
Go get a set of those $22 apiece Gabriels, put 'em on the car, and enjoy it. Save some money, too!

I am planning on shock replacement on my 64 dynamic. They do produce a shock a step above standard replacement but I have had a number of qualified techs tell me not worth it.
Unless you are going to replace the entire suspension a more expensive shock wont make a difference. And if your coil springs are shot the new shocks aren't going to do what you want them to do. My springs are in good shape but the shocks have to go. It will help keep my old boat on the road.

I hate that, especially since Oldsmobile is clearly spelled out on the hood. Last show I went to, someone even confused it for a Pontiac, which is WAY out of whack. I mean, I clearly don't have vertical headlamps.
