1964 DYNAMIC 88 ****CARB QUESTION****

I have a 1964 Dynamic 88 that was originally a 2 bbl on a 394 ci. I bought a 4 bbl intake for the 394, but cant figure out which carb I need for the new intake. I believe after all my search efforts that The carb number I need is 4GC #7024050 Is this correct? Where can I get the correct carb? Any help/suggestions/feedback/anticipated problems is appreciated-Thanks

The 4GC is the correct carb for the 394. You might try Evil-bay to find a carburetor. Fusicks and Kanter might carry one as well.

carb

Should I anticipate any linkage issues or trans shifting issues converting from 2bbl to a 4bbl? Its got the 4 sp roto-hydramatic. It shifts great now, but heard it can be a very "stubborn" tranny.

I'm glad to hear your transmission is working right now. I don't know if the 2 barrel and 4 barrel have a different TV rod. What you will have to do is ensure that your TV rod is hooked up correctly and adjusted properly. There should be zero slack in the TV rod when the throttle is closed.

How do I know exactly what # carb I need? How do I know if I need manual or automatic choke? Theres so many different variations of the same carb Im getting frustrated trying to figure out what I need, and what I dont need on the carb? I just want to make sure my trans will shift properly,I get more power from take off, and a nice idle. Im not picky lol

HERES A FOR INSTANCE-
Whats the difference between the Rochester 4GC #7020955 and the 4GC #7024050?

If you are restoring your car "original" then you will want the specific carb that came on your car. This may be difficult. Your best bet it to locat a parts car in a salvage yard and remove the carb from it. The only problem is that you will have to find a car with the 4 barrel option. Truthfully, I don't know if the 4 barrel carbuertor was an option for your car. Do some asking around, I am sure someone will know.

You could always find a 4GC carburetor that was mated to a Slim Jim and you should be good to go. However, those transmissions are so finicky I would be wary about changing anything with the TV rod.
