1955 Olds

Just looking for some leads.

Have a "55 Olds, 324, 4bbl. Sat for about 10 years. Got it running. Rebuilt Carb, fuel pump. New plugs, cap, roter, wires etc. Gas is coming from 2 gallon gas can feeding to the carb/fuel pump. Has 95G's on od/meter. When I start it, 2 pumps, she starts right up. Point gap is where it should be 25-33 with no bounce. I then went to check timing, which is where it should be. My idle needs to be at 850rpm. While watching the meter/tach, it was bouncing around/not steady. Also, I have a back fire coming from the exhaust once its at temp. Any thoughts why Tach is not steady or why I have this back fire from the exhaust?

Thanks,

and1stp/John

Will double check specs thanks. Ya, removed the tank, was pretty bad inside and out. Gas lines were not o pretty as well. I'm going to buy one through TANKS, looks to be very close to size and filler neck is where it should be.
I have several pics but I'm thinking the only way to show them is through email.
