71 Cutlass axle??

Sorry for another "identify my axle" thread but help would be much appreciated. I recently replaced this from my 71 cutlass, I have no idea if its original to the car or not. I believe it had a 3.08 gear in it before I had a locker and gear set replaced in it. I'd like to sell it but I don't even know what it is or belongs to.

So far the only markings I have been able to find are only on the housing. Its stamped 07296, CFD and BD. I thought I could some what match it up to the part number of the locker (Eaton 19557-010) but that comes up as Chevy/GMC. I've tried to find the ID stamp on the axle tube but 15 coats of paint isn't making it very easy and I haven't found it.

You overlooked the block "O" where the axle tubes go into each side of the center section. That's a dead giveaway of a corporate 8.5" 10 from a 71-72 Cutlass.

Yes sir I did... I looked right at it... both of them... quite a few times! I was so determined to find the damn numbers on the axle tubes I completely dismissed the fact that the answer was right in front of me. Thank you kindly.

10 bolt 8.5 Olds

That is a 10 bolt 8.5 Olds rear 1971 1972
The rear has a Aftermarket Eaton posi unit Clutch type 28 spline
The posi unit was cast 5 (may) 17 (17th day of ) 11 (2011)

Pretty thick ring gear might be a 3.73 Look on the outer edge of the ring or count the teeth of both and divide the small into the larger tooth count.
