67 Cutlass posi and 355 gear kit
Is this a good deal and will it work on my car? Not familiar with rear diffs.

Seems like a good deal to me, i bought a new Eaton for my 8.2 P type rear and it was $550ish, rebuild kit for the rear and axle bearings seals etc from Monaz was approx 190 shipped. I kept my 3.90 gears. A local guy set it up for me for $75 bucks. Almost the same price as mine but your getting new gears, but it dosent seem to include axel bearings and seals.
As far as fit maybe Monaz will chime in or someone else who knows more than me. I can try to find envoice on my Eaton to see which part number it is.
Good luck
Steve

The part number for mine from Jegs is 362-19674-010, again i have an 8.2 P type rear with factory 3.90 gears. It cost me $567.99. This part number is
BP882355 R8.5PRMKT 19674-010
The 8.5 in their number makes me think maybe for a later rear, but maybe im reading it wrong.
Dont know what gear you have now, 3.08? But a 3.55 would wake it up nicely.
Im trying to help, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

Quick and simple, the Type O has 12 bolts on the cover and its roundish. The 8.2 only has 10 bolts in the cover and at the 3:00 and 9:00 O'clock positions a C shape portion cut out of the cover. I agree with the other guys that in 1967 it could be either one.

From another recent thread I learned that Richmond Gear is again producing 3.42 gear sets for the O-Type rear.
Their catalog lists 3.42, 3.90, and 4.10:
http://www.richmondgear.com/wp-conte...n1.pdf#page=32
Available gear ratios, whether new or original GM, are fairly limited. The new gears are made to fit on the factory 3.08-3.23 series carrier.
I recommend you check with Brian (507olds) or Jim (monzaz) for parts and information.

I sent Jim a PM and pictures. I had never in all my years of tinkering messed with the center section of a rear end. This is a learning experience for me. I figure I need to replace the pinion seal, cover seal, and rear control arm bushings. I MAW upgrade to a posi and a better gear. Axle bearings are all good, replaced a few years back.
