1964 Convertible vs hardtop door

Hey everyone,
I have a great lead on a complete driver door from a 1964 Hard top. My convertible could use a new driver door that hasn't been so hacked on. I assume the convertible and the hard top use the same door. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Todd

According to my 1965 Hollanders interchange book, the 2 door hard top and the convertible both use the same door. The only thing that I believe that you might need to transfer to the new door is the anti rattle plates that rub against the anti rattle plates on the quarter panel above the striker... assuming that they were used on your year and model. After 50 years, I don't remember all the little details like I used to when I was working on 1964 cars..

Todd, you may have to swap out the wing windows. They may be different where they mate up to the side of the windshield. But I agree with Junkman that the sheet metal of the doors will interchange.

Thanks John, if that happens to be the case I am in luck. My wing windows are in great condition. The door itself had been cut on where the window guide bolts into the outer jam, well, let's just say the metal is gone (3 inch circle cut out for god knows what reason). The door is a sloppy mess.

Did this swap and they are totally the same as far as I could tell, no problems not even with the vent widows.

Terrific. I appreciate the info everyone. I am sure this will open a whole new package of worms but I am excited to have a good door finally.
