Options in 1964?
How common were highly/fully optioned F85 Cutlass back in 1964. My car is far from original, but it seems to have been ordered with every box checked:
Holiday Coupe
Power Steering
Power brakes
Power electric windows (4)
Power driver's seat (haven't checked passenger side)
Air conditioning
Remote adjustable driver's mirror
Remote trunk release
Automatic trans
Front bucket seats
Console shifter, with tach
Stereo* (has been replaced so not sure what was there originally)
Was front ashtray delete an option? Mine seems to have a factory panel over it - unless I can't figure out how it opens.
Both glovebox and center console compartment have locks.
Or were these pretty common on the Cutlass trim level?
Thanks!

Not that common. Most cars I've seen from that era had PS, PB, AM radio, auto trans, tinted windshield and that's about it.
Oh, and you DO have an ashtray -- it just pivots and pops out if you push on one (driver's?) end of it.

Fully optioned cars were the exception rather than the norm in those years- unlike modern times where even base KIAs and Hyundais come with everything your Cutlass has and more.
Yours is well-equipped for its time, but there was a lot more on the option sheet- stuff like cruise control, reverberator rear speaker, power antenna. I can't remember offhand if 1964 Cutlass could have had tilt-away steering wheel.
Your original (and extra-cost option) radio would have been a pushbutton-tuned transistorized Delco AM set and could have had these options: rear speaker, rear speaker w/ reverb, power antenna.
Power bucket seat was driver side only.

As noted, when those cars were new, far fewer were ordered with all those options. Of course, every time one of these cars gets restored today, it also seems to get every option in the book added to it.

Power seat is missing the switch - ie, I can't even move the seat! Guessing there's more broken than just a missing switch.
Power windows work 7/8. Ie, every window goes up and down - except the driver's window, which only seems to go down. Need to take door apart to see if I can get window to close but thinking its the switch.
AC is gone. An aftermarket heater was added but even with that off, the car kicks off serious heat in the footwells. Its not coming from the heater.
Tach (was it standard with center console?) was in trunk. Aftermarket gauges for oil, temp, and batt were added.
Period correct Nav System has started aging around the edges of the paper. Has obviously been folded incorrectly over the years too.

My 64 cutlass vert has power seat, A/C, PS, PB, vacuum trunk release, remote mirror, auto console w tach, tilt wheel, dual exhaust, deluxe radio, power top, two speed wipers, e-brake light indicator, glove box light, deluxe seat belts, rear belts, back-up lights. I'm not sure about my original wheels and I don't have the electric clock or power antenna options.

I may have some production numbers of this stuff so if you give me the codes of the following options you have, that would help me:
Body code
Option code #1
Option code #2
etc.
So, for example, if I'm right about the model/body. . .
237
A31 Power windows
C60 AC
etc.

^ Wow, fun thread. Can't wait to see if that is the tray open trick. Reach behind and feel that thing. If it's a blank-off, it'll feel like a plate. If not, whack that bugger to loosen her up. I love detective work figuring out stuff with these old clunks.
