Troy,
When I had the windshield replaced on my '69 442 convertible, the shop told me it was a shorter height than the hardtop by a couple inches. Cheers! Murray

I agree with Murray, the header panel on the convertible is different becaus it has the hardware to attach the top so it is different in that respect too. You might do better to have someone that knows metal work to repair those channels with replacement steel. You said rotted out, do you mean in patches and pieces or ALL THE WAY AROUND? If it is the former it can be repaired, the latter....kiss the car goodbye or get a whole new frame from another convertible.

First Thanks mur and oldsguy for the response.
I guess what i'm asking if i cut out the rusted area like the cowl area they should be the same to weld back in? and the top if i cut pieces I should be able to do the same !! the rest of the car is in fair shape, small holes in trunk and floor boards. not bad for a new england car!!!! thanks Troy. |

I would think that would work and it would be better than using generic pieces of stock metal.
