I'm not sure which aftermarket air system you planned to use, but it seems to me that it would be simpler to just repair the factory system. You could have it flushed and converted to the new coolant. If the compressor is bad, you could purchase a used or rebuilt one. I'm not an expert with AC but unless you've got a hole in something there's not a lot of things to go bad beyond the compressor. I guess the dryer should be replaced as it could be contaminated. Anybody else out there with experience doing their AC system?

probably right, vintage air makes a universal kit, and it cleans up the engine compartment(my main reason) but if it just needs something small i ll go that route.
