What does it take to be a Classic

I was just curious as to how old a car has to be before its a classic. I thought it was 25 years, but I could be wrong. I know there are exceptions to some rare cars, but in general what is it. I understand that here in Canada a 15 year old car is then considered an enthusiast car. Does anyone know?
