Testing clock

I have a couple of '70-'72 clocks. Do they need to be grounded to the under dash panel to operate? I tested one by just holding it and plugging in the power feed with no result. Then it dawned on me about grounding. The wiring diagram does not show the ground symbol on this connection. I'm not very well grounded(no pun intended) in electrical stuff.....Chumley

It grounds through the "ears" on the clock chassis. Hold it so one of the the metal ears is grounded. FYI...most 30+ year old clocks don't work without being worked on.
