Electrical Wiring Problem????
I have a 1972 cutlass olds and the thing almost caught fire most of the wires that runs to the battery, alternator and to the stater are all burned up.I'm many thousands of dollars into this restore, I aways thought that the car needed an up to date rewiring but i got lucky and still have the car because it almost burned up. Can anyone give me direction on where to go ,what to get and how much should it cost? One guy said go on the internet and get a wiriing harnest. Another person quoted me a job from head light to tail light 2500 ,for the mean time i just need a under the hood rewiring can anyone help?

I have an extra wiring harness for a '71...but it's a bit different than a '72. I'd try junkyards.

Junkyards. If you're in Maine, there's gotta be a '72 floating around somewhere. even if it's a four door or a wagon.

Although it might cost a little more than a junkyard, you can get complete wiring harness's from Fusick, BAP, OPG, etc. The only reason I even recommend this is that after 30+ years in the junkyard these harneses are pretty corroded, bare spots in wires, etc. If you do buy one from a yard amke sure you unwrap and inspect to make sure it is intact. I recently took one off a parts car and got quite a few suprises upon closer inspection.

Wiring Info
Much need information on what to do with this wiring problem. My problem started from the cable going down to the starter from the battery it layed on the headers and started the fire and pretty much burned any wires that was ran off the battery.
