And on the heels of his first new release in 38 years. Another reminder that we are all gettin' Olds....

He fathered a lot of what we used to call Rock n Roll. Sure made an influence on me picking up the guitar habit.
RIP, he had a good run.

Most of his great music is still timeless. Without him we wouldn't have music as we know it.

You got that right. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were heavily influenced by his music, did covers of his music. A very unique character indeed. My family gave me flack for playing his music and talking about him. He was way before my time but very unique for the 50's. Ironically he is from my Mom's time when she was teenager, she doesn't know him. She was a nerd who hated Elvis back then. Her favorite was Eddie Arnorld and also liked Vera Lynn, who was a great singer and even Pink Floyd immortalized Vera. RIP and one of a kind.

He introduced a whole new way of playing guitar, as said above, a big influence for many great musicians.
Ironically his only UK #1 was "My Ding-a-ling", hardly his greatest work.

Another fine musician lost but long to be remembered.

Roger.
