trim decode '71 cutty

I'm a noob so don't bite my head off...

I trying to decode my new 1971 olds cutty project. The cowl/trim tag underhood on firewall is as follows....:

ST 71-33687 Z 02117 BDY
TR 952 4242 PNT
010 063039 540089

The VIN plate (interior dash panel) is as follows:

336871Z07777

Please help. i think I have conflicting plates. But any information any one has please list it. Or if there is a sight I can look it up for myself please point me in the right direction. I tried the forum search and but the "decode" info I found didn't specify my year or the numbers I listed above. Please help, would realy appreciate......

wait a minute....

The link you listed gives me a description of what each number means but not a table that I can use to identify what the specific numbers on my plate represent. My paint code (both upper and lower) is 42. But I don't know what color "42" is. My code denotes "87" says 2 dr/plain black/hardtop coupe??? don't understand what that means. Please help. Yep... thats me.... a noob.

This should be more than you want to know!
http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o...x/trim%20tags/

EVERYBODY is a noob at one time. Don't sweat it and don't apologize for it.

Coupe is a "fluid" auto term...meaning pretty much whatever the automaker wanted it to mean. Usually, a coupe has a 'post' between the front and rear side windows and a hardtop or sedan doesn't have a 'post'.

I'm not a "founding member". I'm just an Oldsmobile nut with a lot of time on my hands!
