Yes, i have been very patient and will be. I want to get the right one for me and I am not in any hurry anymore. Now if the Caddy breaks down into an expensive repair, then the patience might end...

Now that doesn't look too bad. Might have to call him and get more info. Too bad there were not more pics...

Wait. It's a caddy...
It's not if, its when.

I had been eyeing that one for some time, but it is green. As a daily driver, I do not want green or blue or yellow or orange. Sure I could have it repainted, but bodywork just ain't for me. It looks nice as it is for a collectable - hate to change it either way.
I had toyed with the idea of having him repaint it and changing the inside color, but that is just too much work. Do not want to get into another project myself. It really needs to be good looking, reliable, leak free, I also decided that I want the longer Vista style. Only room here for none so I need to get just what I want.

I hope it's something Rob will like. He's so hard to please ya know? Just hope he gets the alert - I know he's on another road trip. Just hoping he plugs in his laptop and checks the site while he's away. But that might not be much like having a vacation..

Rob is looking for a cream puff, mine is a cool driver rat rod. But I do have to say $6k would tempt me for the car. Although Rob is looking for a 350 I still prefer the 455 2 br in my car for torque. I don't believe there would be a difference in mileage between a 350 4br and a 455 2br. I cant really compare my car to another VC because it has a 2:56 rear end and .66 overdrive. On the freeway it idles! Lee

6K?? That ad isn't even close; it's listed at 19K. That's a lot, but the car does look amazing. I would have hoped for the 350 4bbl instead of 2bbl though. It does need some detailing under the hood, and it would be nice to see the third row seat up, + the spare wheel well for rust. According to it's VIN it would have been produced around the 3rd week of April 1972.

I think Rob should buy that 66' cutlass house-car.
You could tour the country AND bring a trunkload of parts back!

Well, I just now saw this, a bit late though. Ended at almost 16k and looked worth it. However, as nice as it looks, i do not want to buy a car in Canada and have to pay half that about in taxes....
I do not mind paying that for a nice VC. In fact it is easier to spend the $$ then to have to restore / repair one. Since it would be a DD, I would not have the time to work on it, either.
I know... I only have room for one, so it needs to be just what I want.
No computers come with me on vacations.
Yes, and that one looks quite nice! Might need to hit that guy up for more info! Midnight blue it looks!
Unfortunately I do not have enough room for more parts. When i retire on acreage, it will be feasible!

I just saw it again - SHARP as can be! But it has a 455 - bad for city slogging everyday. Dang...
#101
You don't want a 455 ? .... actually having the 350 would be more economical like you said , but then you have a 455 for Lady , and then you put the 350 in the wagon ..... Ta Dahhhhh , problem solved !
#102
Yep, need a 350 since it would be a daily driver. Lady is numbers matching so she won't give her heart up for some ol' wagons......
#103
But Rob, I know where there's at least half a dozen 350's and I'm sure we could help you figure out what to do with that extra 455
#104
I know John. However the wagon I get cannot be or become a big project. It needs to go straight to work with only minor resto along the way.
I know, I hear it now - swap the engine, no biggie!

So drive the 455 until you have time to make the swap. Besides, your going to have to install the power window setup sometime.... just space out the projects so it's not down for months at a time

John, I love your optimism and encouragement. However, if the motor came out, all MAW-hell would break loose - car would be down for a year or more!
Not having space to work would also throw a monkey wrench in the works, too. I really envy the space you have. I met up with another car enthusiest yesterday and he had 2 shops on 3 acres in Oklahoma. Of course he had 20 projects going and none complete...
BTW, this summer-fall I will be returning to Oregon, to check out some land in your neck of the woods.
I can't wait to retire!

Not to egg you on or anything but from first hand experience? Retirement is great. Takes a little getting used to but worth every second. Makes you appreciate how much time you never had to spend in some important areas of your life. I know you'll understand and appreciate this next thing: The stress level goes WAAAAY DOWN.
Some people live to work, I worked to live. I did bust my hump in the last 10 years just to make sure I retired with no debts, and a reasonable savings/investment portfolio. Gotta plan a long way in advance and stick to your guns.

Seriously? You thinking of moving to Bigfoot county?? Hmmm, maybe we could start a gated Olds community......

Man it looks good on you!

As much as I did not want a blue one, or one with woodgrain, that one looks great with that combo! Yes, i have the gears turning. But then again, I cannot fulfill his desires of payment methods. Might send him a note regarding it...
