Wanted 1970 W-31

Looking for a nice original and or restored car. Will consider a '69 as well, but prefer a '70. Thank you!

All depends on the car and documentation or lack there of. I don't want a trailer queen or a full resto, something closer to a nice driver whether it's original or an older resto.

Thanks!

Tell us your location & a realistic budget. No point wasting our time sending you cars you are too far away from & that are out of your budget.

I live in the greater Milwaukee area, Wisconsin. As I stated, budget depends on the car itself. I am not worried about that end of things............

Prefer a nice original driver or older resto that you can drive, not a trailer queen or project. I would say that is pretty specific wouldn't you?

You might want to head over to the For Sale section. There is a '70 W31 that's available right now.

Saw both cars, however, one is a major project (been there many times and won't go back) and the Matador Red is BEAUTIFUL and too nice to drive and enjoy in my humble opinion. Those are the two ends of the spectrum that I would not be interested in........

You are looking for some rarity here so don't be surprised if you have to open up the wallet some more. Beggers can't be choosers. GLWYS.

This one is going to need some work but not a total bow wow:

http://www.racingjunk.com/Oldsmobile...e-Cutlass.html

If you don't mind going across the pond, this is available and reasonable:

The link with the post for the burnished gold car is an old listing from when I sold the car 2 or 3 years ago.

So you want a car under $50000 USD & over $10000 USD. Was that so hard? Seriously, it makes it so much easier when you put your cards on the table.

Good luck in your search. As the owner of a 1970 W-31 I understand your desire to own one.

This is a long shot, but there was a 4spd offered for sale last summer for a short time, then was pulled off the market. I don't know if it's still available but it's not cheap. The car went back and forworth between Texas and Florida and was owned by a W31 expert from ClassicOldsmobile.com (you know who). It was recently repainted back to the correct color from Rallye Red. I will contact the owner.

When you aren't 100% familiar with how these cars have been selling for over the past 3/5/10+ years, it makes it a little difficult to throw numbers out there. Even with a limited educated guess, I wouldn't feel confident. Not trying to be difficult, but I would agree with your numbers........

I talked to him, but don't get a good feeling from him at all. Body and paint were done when he got the car, nothing in the drivetrain is re-done, won't send detailed pictures amongst what's already been pointed out. Oh yeah, and he's in Canada.........

I have a Sebring Yellow 1970 Cutlass W-31 4-speed that I might consider selling. I do not have documentation and it is not numbers matching. Thinking about $19,500.00. The car is in Arizona.

Well, it's been a busy week. I have spoken with five different owners of W-31's in all different shapes and sizes, from an original owner 10K mile car to a beautifully restored example and everything in-between! A lot of really cool cars out there right now, I have plenty of food for thought!

The Red W31 in OH was tempting and a beauty. I would have installed a 4spd though. :-) Hopefully you find one in your expectations Stewolds

This one's been for sale for at least 8 years. It's started out at around $8k and a lot has been done to it since. The seller keeps raising the price as he does more to it. It is supposedly GM of Canada documented. Some people have suggested that it's a scam because I don't know if anyone that's actually ever seen it. It's posted on CL in other parts of the country. As long as I remember it's been listed here on Providence or South coast CL.

This looks like the same car the owner contacted me about, I would guess 7 or 8 years ago. Same color combination (burnished gold with green interior), it was in OR or WA state, and the owner had something to do with trucks. Going by the Ebay sellers name, it appears to be the same car/owner. The car was purchased from a 442.com ad, and was modified with a tunnel ram hood, and I don't know if the original engine was in the car or not. I seem to recall a lot of things had been changed/swapped around on the car. He did have the broadcast card. At the time his asking price seemed a little above market, but not too bad.

So, what value do you put on the car as he states it's all numbers matching?

Buy it

It takes a special man to love a car with a green interior. My Radiant Green 72 W-30 is so equipped. Should have been white, black or even saddle.

One gets used to the oddball color combinations & you are sure to have the only one at the next car show in that color combo.

Despite the color scheme it is still a documented W machine.

If you like the car take a run at it.
