Wanted 1970 W-31
#41
It takes a special man to love a car with a green interior. My Radiant Green 72 W-30 is so equipped. Should have been white, black or even saddle.
One gets used to the oddball color combinations & you are sure to have the only one at the next car show in that color combo.
Despite the color scheme it is still a documented W machine.
If you like the car take a run at it.

I am watching the auction. All those bids came yesterday and seem to be schill bids, but who knows. The current owner states all numbers matching, and 8yrs ago he had the hood and top of the fenders painted but didn't go into detail. Still researching and hope others on the board can chime in with more info if possible. Appreciate any and all help!

My buddies dad ordered his W-31 with the same interior, but with Black paint. Love that car..........

1969 W-31 Special Order Paint......
Is anyone familiar with the 1969 "Spring Green" special order paint F85 4-spd W31? It was at MCACN a few years ago. Supposedly the only one, and extremely rare. Trying to gauge the value on that one and any help/input would be greatly appreciated!

The car was on caronline for a long time but did sell.
It started high & was last listed at about $47000 USD.

You are aware that there are no factory docs on this "W-31"????
I do not know where the car is now but it was in Chicago when it was for sale. Gregg Godon probably knows where it is.

Paperwork......
I haven't asked him about that yet, but will. He wants to "Trade-Up" on my car and I am considering it. This is my favorite color on the planet, and with the post coupe 4-spd W-31, whoa. Car is in Indiana with a big collector......
If it's true, and there are no docs, what's a "Real World" value on the car?
Thank you!

With no documents it's just a nice looking, fast Cutlass.
Pay accordingly....ie...no where near $47000. Just my opinion but I would not go north of $30K.

Burnished Gold/Green W-31
Ok, talked to the seller this afternoon. He has owned the car for 18 years and is the third owner. Previous owner had the car painted with a different hood and installed 455 and automatic to make more of a "show car". Car came with the numbers matching motor, trans, etc. he had the motor and trans re-built 8 yrs ago and the top of the fenders and original hood painted back on the car. All matching numbers drivetrain, and original interior with only the drivers seat showing wear. Three build cards, with one still attached to the rear seat. Special order car of course with the color options. His reserve is set between 25K and 35k, I think you can do the math.
He said that Greg (can't remember the last name) from up in that area has verified and looked the car over........
Opinions please..........

Is W-31 on the build cards? YES
Is the JO code trans in the car? It's a 4-spd
What rear gear? 3.42 3.91 or 4.33? 3.91
Likely you are referring to Gregg Godon. Why not talk to him about the car? Does he live up in the Oregon area, and have something to do with "Supercars?" I have no idea who he is, it if you have he contact info, I would love to have it?

Auction on this one ended at $19200 USD. Reserve not met. It will be interesting to see if the car gets relisted.
I predict a $29500 reserve if it gets relisted.
Thoughts?

I know Tony the guy who has the gold w31 and have seen the car. it did have a 455 in it at one time but when he bought it he also got the original motor and hood. I have seen all of it. It is a nice car and is what Tony say it is. he owns a Ford truck wrecking yard in Portland but is a huge Olds guy. I have dealt with him for years and always had good luck. I highly recommend this car and Tony. Not sure what he wants for it but I suggest calling him.

Do you know if there has been any sheet metal replaced or patched. I have been talking with Tony and am in the process of finding someone to do an inspection for me. Thank you.

I'd check it out for you but it is a 300 mile round trip for me. I wonder if Greg Rollin of Supercarsunlimited.com would check it out for you. He is in the Portland area and he really knows these cars.
Just a thought.

Shipping has got out of control. times have changed, Years ago they needed your business so they were competative/affordable. But with all the collector car auctions through out the year, shipping cars has become a frenzy and they don't need your job . You need them they don't need you.

That gold car is a beauty and I would buy if in the market for a ready to go documented car! You could always make a roadtrip even if you have to delay it abit until the winter weather calms down a bit. I'd make a trip in my truck and just rent a uhaul trailer to bring it home. U-ship is a probably your best chance for a deal but even then some are trying to charge crazy fees. I flew to CA and drove my 71 back towing my 66 all the way to VA and I spent less than half of what I was getting quoted to ship two cars.

I'm new to the site and saw this thread on a internet query. I'm in Hawaii and a new owner of the Gold 70 f85 w31 that was listed. It needs lots of work but everything is original. I'm pretty excited. My first car was a 69 cutlass and I bought a wrecked 72 W30 back in 80. Everything went into that High School car from the 72. Haven't had an Olds since then. Feels good to look at one again that I own.
